Quantum technology is, in practice, an engineering discipline that happens to rest on quantum mechanics. The people who succeed in it are fluent in both — able to read a physics paper and also to build the control system, write the solver, or formulate the problem properly in the first place. Programmes that teach only one half produce graduates who need the other half taught to them later.
CEQT sits in a Faculty of Engineering, works on computation and software, and collaborates with RCQT on the physical platforms. Students see both sides.
What students work on
- Algorithm design and complexity — formulating hard problems for quantum and hybrid solvers.
- Simulation — many-body dynamics, computational chemistry, agent-based models.
- Software and control — the layer between an algorithm and a device.
- Foundations — quantum information, fractional and fractal methods.
- Applied projects with industry and government partners.
