How to apply

Applications are made through the Graduate School of Chiang Mai University, which runs the admission rounds and publishes the deadlines. Before applying it is worth writing to a potential supervisor in the pillar you are interested in — an application with a supervisor already interested in it is in a much better position.

Financial support

Most graduate students in the centre are supported by some combination of a university scholarship, a teaching or research assistantship, and project funding. Historically, many students in this group have held DPST (Development and Promotion of Science and Technology Talents) scholarships. Ask about funding when you write to a supervisor — it is a normal question and it is better raised early.

Application rounds

Application windows are set by the Graduate School and change from year to year, so check there for the round that is currently open. Write to a prospective supervisor in parallel rather than afterwards — that conversation matters more to the outcome than the timing of the form.

International applicants

The centre works in English and hosts visiting researchers regularly. Contact covers how to find us; the Graduate School handles visa documentation once an offer is made.
